Robert Reich suggested we write to our Congress critters in his recent “What you can do” substack. I suggest we do this, however, don’t call, don’t email, actually put a letter in the mail but add your two cents worth, literally. When we were caring for my mother we spent hours going through her mail. She received hundreds of appeals from non-profit organizations with pennies and nickels glued to the appeal. It made it impossible to shred and we had to open every letter. I suggest you write your Congress critter and also write to the White House (you may have to reformat the letter Reich suggests) but add a PS: “Since money is speech I am adding my two cents” and rubber cement two cents at the bottom of the letter. This might be a slightly subversive way for us to “flood the zone.”
